‘Where the needs of the world and your talents cross, there lies your vocation.’ – Aristotle

Carol Ni Ghiollarnath

English-speaking Montessori Elementary Teacher

Originally from Ireland, I lived in the Netherlands for 8 years prior to moving to Aruba, where I have now lived for 6 years. I was awarded my Diploma in Montessori Elementary Education from the Association Montessori Internationale (Minnesota Training Center) in 2015.

I began my teaching career in 1996, teaching children between 5-16 year of age violin, flute and piano in secondary schools and from home. Meanwhile, I studied Business Law and French in University, (while teaching and playing music at the weekends). In 2003 I moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Masters in Law and then taught law at Maastricht University. In 2011, with a PhD in Law and 15 years of teaching under my belt, it was time to spread my wings and set flight for Aruba. That is where  I discovered Montessori education, in Beautiful Sun Montessori School, the primary Montessori school in Aruba.

From that moment, Montessori education became my passion. Having gobbled up all of Maria Montessori’s books in the first weeks of landing in Aruba, my legal career was set aside.  I then taught music appreciation for young children at the Da Vinci academy and later I taught the Montessori kindergarten class in the International School of Aruba. I began my studies for my Diploma in Montessori Elementary Education in 2012. Now, in 2017, the Montessori Elementary Schoolhouse will expand Montessori education in Aruba.

Life-long learning is a great source of joy for me and it is a great privilege to foster the love for learning in children in the first years of that important journey of children in their elementary years.
